Richmond to Shawboro, NC (Kitty Hawk)

 

We are off down to North Carolina today so we can see the Wright Brother's museum at Kitty Hawk.


Our first peek of the Atlantic Ocean....... through the ports..............

Then down into the tunnel to cross under the water into Virginia Beach we go..................



And we pop up on the other side.

A short drive, and another toll bridge, and we are into North Carolina.

The camp I have found is quite a drive from this but when we start going there it really feels like it is in the middle of nowhere.....  We eventually find the camp and set up - it is a nice camp but it is in the middle of nowhere.  As usual they warn about bears and raccoons.

 It is 3pm but we decide to check out Kitty Hawk so we know where we are going tomorrow and head off to the information centre which takes about an hour to get to.    Directed in the right direction, we make it to the Wright Brothers National Park where they made the first flight from and get to look around the monument before they shut.

After a hike up to the monument and a quick look at the replica on display, they shut so we decide to find the local beach and tip our toes in the Atlantic Ocean.

 We walk down the pier and then stop for dinner at Dirty Dicks before heading back to camp.
