Columbia to Whittington, Illinois

As we are trying to catch friends in Kentucky for the NSRA show in a few days we are keeping pace heading east and are on our way again fairly early in the morning.  The rain has eased and we are staying on the I64 crossing east bound.  Unfortunately the interstates are a great means of getting from point A to point B in the fastest time, but they are for the most part boring.....    We must have been board as we started taking photos of the billboards......here is a couple of good ones...

Not sure how long they would last!!!

Some of the many bridges as we head towards St Louis on the border of Missouri & Illinois.

Been to Chicago & through Memphis previously, so keep heading for St Louis...........

In the background of this pic, you can see to towers which are the bridge we are heading over to cross into Illinois.

The bridge over the Mississippi river between the two states.

Looking back over St Louis.........

Again, we have been in Illinois before but not down this area so this is all new territory for us to explore.

The St Louis Arches.
Passing through we phone the Neilson's but we are about 5 minutes apart and don't make the connection today.  We head for our camp at Whittington Woods for the next two days.

After setting up we take a drive to Benton to Walmart for supplies and dutifully leave one bag behind!  Daryl was most upset to find his chocolate missing when we unpacked!
