Charlestown, WV

Today we went into Charleston, the State Capitol of West Virginia, so we visited the State Capitol building and took a tour as we have done many of these on our travels around USA.

Daryl posing with Stonewall Jackson and in the Governor's chambers.

Very ornate building - marble from Italy and the chandeliers are huge - they take four hours to wind them down so they can clean them.....

The ceiling tiles are just as ornate.....

Hmmmm, just trying it for size............................

Getting a little too comfortable there.

Across from the State Capitol was the Cultural Museum which everyone recommended so we went to look through this - a very good museum that we spent so much time in that we ended up with our first parking ticket!  At least it is only $5 here!
After this we went to find downtown - the streets are narrow with tall buildings but quite quaint.  We found an Indian Restaurant for lunch around 2pm and then headed out to Alban which turned out to be a dead loss so back to camp it was.  Tomorrow we haul out to Virginia.
