Mt Vernon & Benton day trip (02 Aug 2016)

Rest day today as we have booked in Kentucky from tomorrow, so have a two day stop here in Whittington Woods.  Heading back to Mt Vernon, about 13 miles we check out the down and eventually find some shops including a  Hobby Lobby which we spend a bit of time poking around in. 

They are putting all there Christmas stock out for sale today - there are so many rows of Christmas decorations that I have never seen before and in every colour you can imagine  it is like being in a lolly shop.

We take the back roads and then head back to Benton which is just below camp to see what is there as we need to go to Walmart plus I thought I had seen this was an Antique town, which it turn out to be but we were a bit late and everything was closing for the night.

 The old part of this town is set up around a square with roads off all side like Martinborough in New Zealand.  We were amused by the 5pm traffic whizzing around the square so fast it was dangerous to cross - rush hour!!!
