Daryl decides we are going to the El Paso County Fair, which turned out to be about an hour away. On the way we pass the National World War II Aviation Museum and he notes this for coming back to........
The fair was much like an A&P show back home with stock but also had chickens, goats, rabbits, kangaroos......... and other animals, along with carnival rides, food and various vendors hawking goods.
In the end we tried some curly fires which looked like a big cake and lemonade as in the squeezed stuff., plus we bought some spurs! The real ones and at real prices - made another friend who turned out to have cars as well.... there is usually always a connection somewhere.
After the fair we went and found the museum and toured this which had lots of memorabilia and a training plane that they demonstrated which was being restored, before heading off to another hanger full of planes being restored also. They had yet another hanger full of planes down the road but we needed to head out to Manitou again so made our way over there before heading back to camp.
Next day, Daryl was off colour so we booked into the same camp for another couple of days and have a day as a breather. I catch up on washing etc and then we have nice walk around the trails in the State park. Daryl is feeling better and decides he will cycle the path again so I go with him. When we get to the fork in the trail to go back to camp, Daryl decides to take the other route........ this goes for miles almost down to the entrance to the park all downhill and I am worried about getting back up!!!!
We nearly turn around but find it starts to go across rather than down and so we keep going, having to dismount several times to get around boulders etc in the path. We make it back to the road but are a long way down from camp - Daryl heads off on the boulder trail and we go in circles before finally heading up hill via this very aptly named goat track...... Sweat was pouring off us both as we made our way pushing our bikes up this trail until finally we find a way back out to the road and head up there before taking another track back to camp. I am absolutely stuffed!!!!
That night, while recovering......these guys came to visit our camp site....
