We went to Lynchburg this morning to find about this area and the civil war sites. After parking we find this very high climb up to the Museum where we learn more about the civil war. Below are some of the local buildings - some lovely old architecture as are most of the towns over this side.
We came across this old garage set up but it wasn't open to the public and it was Sunday.
There were even more old cars out the back but the windows were so dirty it was hard to get a decent pic!
On the way back we turn into the Blue Ridge Parkway and stop at Otter Lake.
Next stop the National Park Office and a walk across the river to the old canal locks - a little smaller than Sault Ste Marie.
Later we take a drive to Lexington to pick up supplies and find this looks like a very nice town with some beautiful old houses also.
Lexington also has a huge university and the Virginia Military Institute.
Some more pics of the southern houses down this way - some very cool houses.
Another State ticked off and we have made it from side to side and top to bottom.
Our latest camp site.
