Spokane to Missoula

Today we cross through the pan handle of Idaho, a narrow strip at the top of the state.

As usual we come across some beautiful scenery, this time in Coeur d' Alene and then take a break in a small town Wallace, Idaho, where we poke around in the second hand shops etc.

We also find this place in Wallace and stop to have a thick shake for lunch - Daryl goes for Moose Tracks.... before moving on and crossing into Montana.

Our planned RV camp is full and so we head across the road to Jellystone RV where we stayed in 2012 when up this way as we have just reached the same point where we turned to head up to Glacier National Park then.

Some weird cloud formations - look like UFO's.....

Leavenworth to Spokane, Montana

Moving on this morning we decide to take the 2 across to Spokane, Montana instead of staying on the main interstate.

We follow the river for some time before turning inland and up into the mountains past these gratified rocks.

There were a lot of these -long straight roads through the countryside for mile on mile, front & back view....

Until we come across and canyon....

And then a lake!   Good place to stop and have a bite to eat.

Coulee City marina, a small town, which had a campground here at the marina too but we were on our way again after lunch.

Neat stop for lunch, a kind of oasis in the middle of nowhere.

The reflection on the water was pretty nice too.

There were plenty of dust storms along the way also, you can see them line up against the horizon and move across the land.

An old pub and house we pass as we blink through another small town.

This is wheat country but someone was growing something different - a splash of yellow.

We arrive in Spokane and check in - only to find Alderwood RV park is under reconstruction but we have driven a long way and so decide to stay anyway.

We head into town and see what is around and find our way into the city center where the falls are in a large park, so go for a wander.

Spokane turned out to be pretty cool and we liked it - would come here again.

The city center has many bridges crossing over the falls and we cross over the river and back again further down while taking in the sights.

We come across a gondola and take a ride over the falls in this also.

Afterwards we poke around the shops which are still
open and head back to camp, stopping at D'Lish Burgers
for dinner. Pretty good burgers too.

Leavenworth

We decide to stay another day as we are worn out from our Alaskan cruise - no dark at night makes for a lot of late nights along with days of walking around and drinkies with friends........well you get the picture.

So after breakfast we head down for another look at town in Leavenworth.  The hanging baskets look amazing and are everywhere.

There is pictures of he town at Christmas in the snow with all the lights - looks fantastic and would love to see that too.

We tried out some cinnamon almonds - yummy.
Hard to get the bag off sweet tooth here...........

The shops are a better than the usual tourist junk and we spend some time just poking around - Daryl picks up a new hat from the 'Australia' store, but it is made in USA- funny because when you want something made in the States you can't find anything..   At least it wasn't China.

All the buildings have lights all over them and we went down later on but only some were lit up which was a shame and it was about 9 pm and still not dark so we gave up and went back to camp.

Daryl testing out the new hat.....

Our only wildlife at this spot keeping an eye on us from a safe distance.
