KetchiKan - Day 5

Next stop over is Ketchikan and we are pleasantly surprised:).

This is the most southern town in Alaska and sits on it's own island.  Ketchikan is famous for it's salmon fishery.

Of course there were the usual jewellery & tourist shops but they seemed better and had some local shops dotted in between, especially further back.

I indulged and bought a ring.

Daryl lined up with all four ships in port when we woke up today.

We went to a Lumberjack show, much like the wood chopping shows at home but still entertaining to watch.
The log roll......

After the show, we wander further back into town and wander around checking out the houses and people and talking to shop keepers.

We pick up some local salmon (tinned) but delicious.

Very picturesque.

We find Creek Street, famous for it's red light district and wander around this area for a while.

Pretty location and has some walk ways leading off from the shops we check out.

Rapids and water fall in town, lovely walk along the river and back into town a different way - all interesting as we head back to the boat for a relax around the pool before dinner.

And of course, our usual hang out at the back of the boat.

Oh yeah - we finally found the bottle of the beer Daryl had on the flight to Fairbanks - Raspberry Wheat.
Not our usual taste.........
