We have a day to explore Vancouver before we leave for Alaska so we head out - first stop a visit to Kevin Saran, an ex-kiwi we met up with at Pleasanton in 2009. Nice to catch up again and we will try to touch base again when we return to Vancouver after our cruise.
We move on as we want to check out Stanley Park, which we did not get to in 09 - it is a long drive through the congested city to get there and we are please to arrive at last.
We find parking and head into the park - it is a busy Sunday afternoon and lots on including a concert which sounded like something out of the 70's complete with the smell of weed and people to match.
Daryl buys us an ice cream and we set out walking around the point past the cruise liners and watch the float planes taking off.
We will be on one of these soon!!!!!
The native Indians totem poles in the park.
The Lost Lake.......
The Rose Gardens were blooming & scented.
Next stop, Beaver Lake - didn't see any Beavers but apparently they are there.
Pretty water lilies, baby ducks and a blue heron all basking in there though.
About 3.30 we head off as we have done our best and need to tidy up the last few things before our cruise tomorrow including picking up an extra carry bag.
A quiet BBQ and finish packing, final check only to discover we have booked parking at the wrong airport, so we sort that out before turning in for the night. So much for the early night!
