Grover Beach - T.R.O.G.

A group of us head over to Grover Beach, beside Pismo, to see The Race of Gentlemen.  The day here is hot and sunny as usual but over on the coast, it is looking to be wet & cold.  We are all hoping it will clear up but head over in any case.

First stop along the way is the James Dean Memorial.

True to form, the weather was wet & cold with plenty of umbrellas and raincoats around.

But the cars were cool as were some of the outfits being worn in period style.

Pretty much anything goes here.............

Had the weather been fine, which it usually is over here, this would have been a fantastic event.  We still had a great time, but the racing did not start until late and we left as it finally got underway, wet, cold and looking like drown rats.

Some pretty cool bikes here too............

Drowned rats posing under the TROG sign..........

Some hot clam chowder was called for to warm us all up again, before heading back over the hill to Bakersfield again.

Great day out with friends.

Duane's Birthday - 14/10/16

Up early this morning to wish Duane a Happy Birthday before Cash went to school.

Three generations of Jones's..........................

Great day ending with a great night of story telling, yarns and old memories coming out.

Las Vegas

Four days in Las Vegas to relax and recoup after our trip back across from the East Coast.

The Oasis RV Resort................

Had time for a couple of dips in the pool and spa (adults only) - just right for unwinding.

Last time we were here it was so hot you couldn't stand on the concrete and the water was tepid at best!  This time it was cold but nice and refreshing in the sunshine.

On our last night, we headed downtown to check out the changes that have happened.  Having found a $10 parking spot not far from Hard Rock Cafe, Daryl picked up another guitar for his collection.

Tried Korean BBQ for dinner tonight which was quite good - we were the only non Korean dinners!

Wandered around and took in the fountain show before heading into Margarettaville for a couple and small flutter ($20 each).

When our pocket money ran out we went home - last of the big spenders!

A couple were having their wedding photos here.

Las Vegas (Speedway)

Watching the sun go down at camp - nice couple of days relaxing.
We head out to the Las Vegas Speedway track today as the drags are on.

Daryl getting his fix at Speedway.....

Lots of smoke and wheelies............ great variety running.

Pits were open to wander through.

A good day at the drags finished off with a little bit of window shopping at the north end outlet shops.

Richfield, UT to Las Vegas, NV

We've been down this road before, many a times it seems.  It is a long haul for us and we are playing it by ear, trying to get in at Oasis RV Resort again but may stop on the way if this doesn't pan out.

Some autumn (fall) colours in the middle of the desert landscape along the way.

Billboards for miles............

Cutting across Arizona, again.

Down through the Virgin River Canyon we go again - at least this time there is not road works making the single lane so narrow we were sucking it in as we crawled through.

The Virgin River still flowing at this time of year, along side the road in places.

Through the gorge and out into the open plains..................
Entering Nevada, we stop at Mystique to fuel up and grab a bite at the gas station.

Over the hill, we roll down into Las Vegas again........ we are not really fans of the place but the RV park is good and it is the last stop before our base at Duane's, so we take a few days to relax and unwind as the temperature is just right at this time of year.  Camp is full due to being peak seasona nd having two rallies on, but this is not a problem and we set up as usual before sitting down for a beer.
