Golden to Grand Junction, Colorado

We keep moving today and head for Grand Junction KOA which we have also stayed in before, back in 2013.

This is a very scenic route and even more so at this time of year with the trees in fall (autumn) colours - the aspens are gorgeous.

A log home snapped as we head into the Rockies.

Then we hit road works........ 1.5 hours at 5miles an hour.......oh boy!  Traffic backed up both ways.

Finally miles later we get past the road works and move along our way, passing over small towns along the I70.

I am loving the colours in the trees.

We go through a number of tunnels - they just build the roads over here and again we wonder what NZ is doing, as these have been here for decades and we still have a single lane road into the capital....

Some more pics of the trees in full colour across the countryside.

Some reds and oranges creeping in - the weather is getting colder up here and the altitude has the colours turning faster than down lower.

Some of the houses along the route - very mansion like.

Hills in yellow and rivers lined in yellow - so cool.

Again the roads are what we need back home - why can't we have this at Paekakariki?  Two lanes each way, split and on a steep hill over water.

Some more colours as we pass through Glenwood Springs arriving around 4.00pm in Grand Junction.
