We are up early to meet our friends at their hotel by 8am before we all head down to the car show. They have a 3 bedroom apartment and have offered us the spare room for a couple of nights, which we gratefully accept.
The view from the Galt Hotel in downtown Louisville over the Ohio River separating Indiana and Kentucky.
We all pile in & head to the show which is huge, so big that you end up not taking the cars in as there is too many to look at. I am not going to put tonnes of car photos on here - but here is a few pics from our three days at the show where we catch up with quite a few Kiwis......
A nice 40 and a cool set up, especially for the heat here, for this 48 Ford.
Danny, Jadzia, Robyn, Mark, Jimmy, Kerry & me.
A couple more cars.....
Thomas's (our Grandson) favourite is the ice cream truck!
Daryl checking out the camping chairs on day 2 - these ones rocked and were really quite nice but didn't fold down much so too bulky, they stayed there.
A barge going out full of petroleum.
The local paddle steamer which had a steam organ piping music - my bonny lies over the sea & puff the magic dragon but you can only stand so much!
The 60's Club: Danny, Daryl & Mark.
Day 3 - we return on our own and met up this bunch... Kerry & Jimmy Keeys, Daryl & I, Paul Davidson (Weasel), Noddy, Sparrow & Scooter (Lance & Clinton Sanford) of Kiwis.
Nice to catch up and have a yarn together.
Day one we went to a BBQ Smokehouse called Smoketown USA, which turned out to be a fantastic choice - a tip a taxi driver had given Mark that we would never have found as in a outlying neighbourhood. Great food and great company plus the staff were a lot of fun. Day 2, we went to a local restaurant and then had to bribe our way into 4th street which was blocked off for a concert as we wanted to get a Hard Rock guitar - we managed to sweet-talk our way in.
