Watkins Glen to Niagara Falls

Leaving Watkins Glen KOA, we head back into town, stopping to pick up fridge magnets.  The view reminds us of driving into Taupo from the south a little.

Without the crowds we find some of the signs around town.

Moving on, we head north up the other side of Lake Senaca from yesterday, past more wineries and tasting venues with some lovely scenery.

We pass through towns and make our way to Lockport, a bit out of our way, so that Daryl can return some parts received in NZ that weren't his.
Geneva

We are 3 miles out of town when we realise we have a problem......

The tyre on the tow dolly has blown to smithereens!  We must have hit a big ole pot hole.  That's what you get for being a good Samaritan.

Oh well, we off load the car & drive into town to find a tyre shop - we get sent to Martelli's who are able to help.  An hour later and $112 lighter we have a new tyre in the boot.

We go to Mac's to return the parts to them and check out their shop, below.

On our way again and we are crossing over to Grand Island where we will be staying at Branches RV Resort.  Over the toll bridge and we settle into camp before heading out to see Niagara Falls.

The US side of Niagara Falls...... amazing but so much mist at this time you can hardly see Canada on the other side.

It is after 6pm now & we wander around the parks viewing the falls from different view points.

We go out on the observatory platform looking over both falls - amazing.

The observatory platform.

We decide to walk across the bridge and into Canada, hoping that we would get in as we know that you now need a waiver when flying into Canada, but think you can still drive thru without one.
They let us in!!

The Falls from Canada, which has a much better view.

The sun is getting lower as we cross over.

The Canadian side has a different feel with its gardens and parks.

We walk around here for some time taking lots and lots of photos......

They have black squirrels with tan paws up this way - first time we have seen black ones.....still cute.

Some more pics of the falls......

It is nearly 8pm and the sun is going down, we stay to see the sunset over the falls.

We get some great shots of sunset over Niagara Falls - these photos are up there for me, so beautiful.

And then at 8.30pm they start the light show, lighting up the falls with different coloured lights.

After this we head up town and have some Indian for dinner and visit the Hard Rock Cafe so Daryl can pick up a guitar for his collection.

Daryl moosing around downtown.  We walk back across the border to the USA where the car is park at the far end of the park - can feel my feet by the time we get home!
