NY - Day 3 - Coney Island

Day 2 as I was coming back from the showers, the guy behind me asks where we were going today.  After a minute he says where are you from ...... so this is how we meet Brent & Sharee Connor from Christchurch, NZ.

Great to catch up with some Kiwis and have a laugh - we had a lot of similarities!

Brent & Sharee were swapping RV's with someone in Canada as they have an RV back home and this worked out really well.  So many ways of doing things!

We see them off on day 3 before heading out for a day trip to Coney Island.

Water Taxi to World Trade Centre, we stop at Brookfield Place....

We get help at the subway and find we have to take two trains to go to Coney Island, transferring at Kiab.     On we hop and off we go on our merry way - the trip takes about an hour and we manage without too much trouble to find our way ok.

Arriving at Coney Island, we stop for some White Castle as Tony Ribeau has told us to try this and we haven't yet - not bad Tony!

Wandering along we find the boardwalk.....as the song goes.....'under the boardwalk'.

Theme Park and beach all in one - thankfully the summer break has finished and it is during the week so not too busy but still humming along.

So we wander down the boardwalk taking in the sights............  people & places............

Prices for some of the rides.........

Time to take our shoes off and go for a paddle.

Coney Island Pier in the background.

Shoes on ...... and out on to the pier for a look before deciding to head back before rush hour.

But first we have to try some Clam Chowder and it was so good!   We catch our train back and end up around 14th Street, where we get a call from Mel & have a nice catch up.

Some more artwork around NY.

Back at camp we decide to wander around the Marina which we have not yet done - some big dollars out there..... we even see America II, Dennis Connor's boat.

Some of the water taxi's in NJ looking over to NY.

A lovely evening and we have diner on the Marina but regret this as was not good in any department.

Pic of our camp - so close to the city.

After diner we walk around the Marina again and out down the neighbourhood for some night shots of NY.

We have had a great time in NY which is a vibrant city - tomorrow we pull out before the long weekend and head north into Up State NY.
