St Ignace

It is still cold here and we are ready to head down the line back towards some warmer weather and to move on.

We are moving to St Ignace right beside the Mackinac Bridge on the north side.  The bridge spans over 4 miles in length and joins the two parts of Michigan.  We have been told to visit Mackinac Island - which we don't know much about but the ferries leave from here.

Arriving about 12.30pm as it is just over an hour from our last spot, we set up camp and by the time we have eaten etc it is 2pm.  A guy Daryl has talked to said he was going the next day as Sunday would be busy.  We decided to stay another day here and go tomorrow to and we will take our cycles over also.

So we head down town to have a look around and see whats here and we stop at a local cafe to try a pastie, which we have been seeing advertised around Michigan.  The cafe has a picture on the counter which looks like our Cornish pasties but that was not what came out......  and it was not nice.  Say no more.

A pile of nuts & bolts
We cross over to visit Mackinaw City on the other side which is a tourist mega and much bigger than St Ignace.

It is full of tourist shops and t-shirt shops but not as tacky as Wisconsin Dells and we spend an hour or so just poking around the shops, then drive down further to Cheboygan.

We head back home and take a walk to the lake - later I head down to try and catch the sunset.

There were so many mosquitoes here it was impossible to stay down here for photos.
