Rocky Mountain National Park - Estes

After a leisurely start we headed into the Rocky Mountain National Park (the entrance is just around the corner from our park) and drove the coupe to the Alpine Visitor Centre, just past the summit at a dizzying 12,183 feet high.

We stopped for a brief walk out to a look out - we had to walk thru the snow and still had our jandals on..... we did get some crazy looks but had to laugh when we dropped into the snow up to our knees!

Next stop - nearly at the top, even the car was feeling the altitude...

Snow was getting pretty deep

They call this the 'Highway to the Sky' as the Trail Ridge Road is the highest paved road in North America and opened this year on Memorial Day (about 2 weeks ago).

Amazing scenery and wildlife - we saw Marmots, Pika, Coyote as well as the usual suspects.

About 3pm we headed back into town and Daryl got a haircut & we did a little more shopping.
