Lincoln, Nebraska

After settling in we go to Walmart to stock up on food again and have an easy diner of bacon & eggs in pita pockets.  Next day we wake to a beautiful fine day that just kept getting hotter to about 33C.

We spend the morning in town and look at the State building as Lincoln is the capitol, then check out the area around that - town is easy enough to get around but mostly consists of eateries.  There is Centennial Mall which runs from the state building to the university, however this is under restoration and not very exciting at present...

Mosaic doors & floors....

And the view from up top overlooking the city...

The Governor's Mansion

In the afternoon, we headed out to Speedway Motors where Daryl got some parts for the forty and then we went to the Museum of American Speed.

Recognise the man in the hat...
'Speedy Bill Smith'

Daryl was in little boy's heaven as you can imagine......

After this we went down to Haymarket which is the downtown area full of old warehouses converted into bars, restaurants, and gift shops.

It was very hot so we cooled off with a beer, did some people watching and then went to an Indian restaurant for dinner.  The place comes alive after hours and just as we were leaving we came across a wedding party having photos taken in the intersection.
