Loveland, Co - Goodland, Kansas - Minden, Nebraska

Okay so we have spent 3 days at the Goodguy's car event in Loveland - if you want to see photos of cars, Daryl has put them on his face book page.....

When we registered we were told to put our names down for long distance by the staff which we did.  We were told by many people that we were the winners during the event, however on the last day for prize giving we found out they did not consider us eligible as we were from outside of USA.  What was disappointing was that Goodguys did not come and talk to us to see how far we had driven before allocating the award.  We understand their reasoning but they gave us the wrong advise & it was not detailed like that on the board.  End of the day, Goodguys is just a company and has a company attitude - as Daryl says, we do not treat people like that in NZ hot rodding.

Anyway moving on....that is exactly what we have done, heading down to Goodlands, Kansas just so we can put our decal on the RV!  This got a laugh from other RV'ers when we confessed why we were at that park while having a swim.

Wheat fields & silos - common sight
Lots of oversized loads on these roads

By the way the temperature has been around 103 to 109F, i.e. over 40 degrees C, so the swim was very necessary.

The place was a stop over and so we headed off in the morning, but by the time, we filled up gas, shopped for groceries and swapped the propane bottle it was nearly lunchtime when we hit the road.

Corn fields with watering systems

There are not many photo's of Kansas being that it is not very exciting - flat farm land growing corn and wheat for miles and miles and miles.....  About 40 miles south of the Nebraska state line, I was very excited to see a rolling hill and some trees, plus the really exciting bit, some hay bales.

Having made it to our destination of Minden we discover the camp is the worst we have been in - the bathrooms are disgusting & I will be using the RV.  This is the first time I have refused to use bathrooms in 8 or 9 months on road - that tells you the state of them - yuk.  The park is okay however with big trees (thank god for the shade in this heat) and we will visit the museum tomorrow - fingers crossed that is in better state than the RV park.

After dinner, we go for a walk downtown to check out Minden....
