Iola - Wisonsin Dells

We head south a little but still going west as at this stage we are still heading for St Paul in Minneapolis.  The drive is about an hour and a half (and after another little GPS diversion we could have done without), we found our way to Steven's Point and then straight down to Wis Dells.

Arriving just after lunch we find a campground and set up.  Finally we have a good connection on skype and catch up with our families which is great.

Later we head down town and get something to cook for dinner, come back, sit back with you know what and relax for the evening around our campfire.  Nice.

Next day we sort out some financials like the insurance and rego....exciting stuff!

Then we head downtown and post away Jaimee's (our granddaughter) birthday present - hopefully will arrive at the right time Mel, but not to be opened until her birthday party please.

We wander down town and have a look around, pick up some bits and pieces.

Then decide to do an old time photo....bit of a laugh and if you don't want to see Daryl in the bath tub, this is your time to escape...

I am glad we don't have to wear that clothing these days - there was about 10 ties on the back of that outfit and it took ages to get out of........ but here is our portrait.

Last chance......

Wisconsin Dells is a very gimmicky town and sort of stuck in the eighties in a way, apparently there used to be nothing much here but it has become a tourist trap with all the lakes and theme parks - a bit like Surfers Paradise....

 You get the picture......

At dusk we went to the 'Drive In Movies' and watched Grown Ups Two....
We sat outside in front of the car and it was a great atmosphere, stars and moon out brightly but so were the mossies and they grow them big up here!

When we went to leave at 11pm in the dark......we had no headlights, so we experienced  a scary drive home with my little tiny torch out the window......very slowly.
For a while we followed cars into town which was not so bad and then drove thru town (which was lit of course) but the last leg was completely in the dark except for our park lights which Daryl said were as good as tits on a bull - windy country road for a few miles to the camp.  We made it and needless to say Daryl has a job to do in the morning.
