Creede & Lake City

There’s not much in South Fork but the general store has everything that you can think of or imagine, and I mean everything!  It also has an RV store which has everything……..
Today (14/07/16), we go for a trip out to Creede and then to Lake City – we had heard about Creede but Grant Hilton told us about Lake City, which is further out up in the hills, like Silverton or Ouray.  Creede is an old mining town set at the base of a rocky gorge – a tourist town really as there is not much else there, so we poke around the shops for a while and then go up to an old mine for a look but decide not to go through the museum part as we did this in Silverton.

Moving on through a plateau we wind our way through fields and past rivers that promise wildlife but there is none to see and we hope they will be out when we return later.

We climb up the mountain and drop down into Lake City which is another small town that again mostly relies on the tourist trade, hunting and ski seasons.  Quaint place with actual boardwalks and the usual tourist and art shops.   Ice cream is on the menu and we sit and people watch as we devour these.

As we leave town, we pass a deer in the main street and unfortunately this is the last wildlife we see as there are no signs of anything on the trip back to camp.  We even tried to see the beaver as their dams are about but they are very elusive.

The jam session continues to night and they are a little more in sync playing some good music.
