Decatur, Alabama

We are up early and hit the road early today to start our long journey back to Bakersfield / LA and ultimately home to NZ.  We have mixed feelings about going home and the trip back to LA is over 2200 miles, about 33 straight hours of driving but we wont be doing it that quickly.  We are heading this way to Decatur, as Daryl has a car to check out along the way, so this set the path home, although we are undecided as to which way to go from here.

We leave Georgia, cross back to Tennessee, back into Georgia, then Tennessee again before finally crossing over the state line into Alabama.  As soon as we enter Alabama, we start spotting Armadillo's (as road kill) along the way.  This is the first time we have seen them in our travels and would like to see one alive...

We arrive and set up in the early afternoon - we are in the open here and the temperature is over 100F (around 40 degrees) - it is hot.  We decide to have look around town and find the historic district but being Sunday it was closed.  So we went and did our shopping and then headed back to camp for the evening.  Not a very exciting place really but okay.  Daryl reloads the coupe and despite the heat I cook chilly for dinner tonight....

The squirrels are having a great time here and I pass one RV with a little dog at the window jumping around - a closer look and I see a squirrel attaching itself to the outside of the window jumping around teasing the dog.......
