Delaware, OH to Fort Wayne, IN

On our way today and once again our GPS is taking but back roads, which was okay today as they were all flat and not too windy.

Then again, we did not count of the road closure diverting us for miles...........................

Got to see some neat old barns on the way thou.

Finally we make our way back into Indiana......

We stay at the Johnny Appleseed Camp right in town - county park.

After setting up, we went for a walk around some of the trails nearby.

We were right on the river, the walking bridge connected the local university.

Quiet waters by an old dam next to the camp.
After dinner, I went for a walk and heard a gridiron game on over the river so went back for Daryl.  We walked over (twice) and attended the Saints home game against the Concordia Cadets.  Nice way to finish the day.

Dayton AIr Muesum - Day Trip

We decide to stay another day and take a trip down to Dayton about an hour and a half away to see the National Air Museum.

Four buildings - 22 acres of covered displays, free admission.

This is an amazing museum and well worth the time to see.

Great displays and well lit for photos in most places.

Some great nose art on display too..........

Daryl suited up for his next mission.

More nose art.........

Displays included the atomic bomb...

And the space shuttle.........

The training station for the shuttle.

The presidential planes.....................

Did I get my wave right?

All the weird and wonderful designs that worked & didn't work were on display also.

Overlooking the shuttle and below, the missiles.

Hard to get a good pic of the B2 bomber,  very sleek stealth plane.

A great museum, especially since it is free to all.

Quick stop at White Castle on the way back and we get caught in the rush hour traffic.....oh well.

Columbus & Canal Day Trip.

As we leave this morning we come across these guys - we have seen them a few times.

Buzzards, vultures......ugly heads and not too small either.

The lake near our camp looking nice this morning as we cross over heading into Columbus.

Downtown Columbus, capitol of Ohio.

The local rag.........

First stop - State Capitol building for a look around.  Very different to other ones we have been in.

Lots of statutes and inside, the centre dome.

More of the ornate surroundings inside the State Capitol.

Outside is beautifully landscaped with many tributes to various military endeavours.

The days starting to heat up as we go for a wander around the surrounding streets.

Some of the old architecture around the city centre and below the State Capitol building.

We found The Peanut Shop around the corner with this guy.....

A quick slice of pizza for lunch & we decide to head to Canal to check out an auto museum.

Bob McDorman's Automobile Museum in Canal.

Sadly, Bob has passed away but his wife is still running the private museum.

So of the neat cars on display - very well set up museum.

Some of the memorabilia on display in the office.  Bob used to have a dealership.

Some cool signage here - all in excellent order.

More of the exhibits...............

Some modern cars too................

Neat little museum with some nice cars and memorabilia.  Back to camp we head to decide what to do and where to go next.
